The Ottawa Senators announced on Saturday morning that veteran forward Derick Brassard will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season after suffering a broken fibula and underwent surgery.
Brassard suffered the injury during the second period of Ottawa's game on Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers. Brassard got his skate caught up in the pads of Flyers goaltender Felix Sandstrom. He fell to the ice, clutching his leg, before being helped off the ice and did not return to the game.
In 62 games this season, the 35-year-old had 23 points (13 goals, ten assists), 30 penalty minutes and was a plus-three. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
