A frightening scene occurred last night in an AHL game as a player collapsed on the bench.

The Laval Rocket were in action yesterday in Vancouver to face the Abbotsford Canucks in the first of back-to-back games.
A very concerning scene unfolded last night during the Rocket's game when a Laval defenseman experienced a medical emergency on the team bench.
Even though the Montreal Canadiens' farm team has already qualified for the playoffs, the team was being closely watched to see if they could maintain their momentum through the end of the season.
The team ultimately fell 3-2 in a shootout. Cayden Primeau stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced, while Laurent Dauphin and Florian Xhekaj each recorded a point.
Unfortunately, a worrying incident occurred in the first period when Noel Hoefenmayer collapsed after returning to the bench.
On the ice, he had been checked by Tristen Nielsen of the Canucks and then appeared to suffer a medical episode on the bench, prompting the referees to stop the game.
"Something just happened on the Rocket bench involving Noel Hoefenmayer. The sequence wasn't clearly visible online, but it appears he collapsed on his team's bench before regaining consciousness. There was a brief moment of panic. Play has resumed, so I assume it's nothing serious."

Later, the organization announced that Hoefenmayer had been taken to the Abbotsford hospital as a precaution:
"The Rocket announce that defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer was transported to the hospital in Abbotsford as a precaution. He was solidly hit by Tristen Nielsen of the Canucks before appearing to suffer a medical episode on the bench moments later."
Drafted 108th overall by the Arizona Coyotes in 2017, Hoefenmayer spent the last five seasons in the AHL and the ECHL, playing for the Toronto Marlies, Bakersfield Condors, and Rocket Laval.
This season, in 29 games in Laval, he scored 12 points, including two goals.
