19-year-old junior hockey captain dies during game
The junior hockey world was shaken today when it was announced that 19-year-old Eli Palfreyman had passed away Tuesday night during a game. The incident during occurred during intermission when Palfreyman collapsed in the locker room. All efforts were taken to revive him but were unsuccessful.
The Vice-President of the Ayr Centennials made the following announcement:
The Ayr Centennials are devastated to announce that our captain Eli Palfreyman passed away last night.
We are asking for your prayers and support for Eli's family and each of our players. Our Centennials organization and the community of Ayr are in mourning.
Medical doctors will have more answers for us in the coming days. Out of respect for the family's right for privacy we will not speculate on anything at this very difficult time. Cen's nation also needs time to heal during this devastating time.
Palfreyman was a former draft pick of the Peterborough Petes and had been named captain of the team just 5 days before his passing.
