Johnny Gaudreau picked one hell of a time to have the best season of his career. Heading into this summer's free agent market, Johnny Gaudreau is set to get paid. This season Gaudreau racked up 115 points, and with a stellar 40-goal season and 75 assists, he has been a driving force in the Calgary Flames' offense.
The problem for the Flames though is that he is a UFA at the end of this season. The real question is, if the Flames exit in round 2, what kind of situation does that put them in with Johnny Hockey? The Flyers and Islanders have been named as teams heavily interested in the pending UFA.
Gaudreau's cap hit is currently $6 million and set to get a significant raise, and the Islanders only have $2 million in cap space, with $565K in LTIR used.
