Florida Panthers Aleksander Barkov is the 2023–2024 recipient of the Frank J. Selke Trophy, which is awarded annually to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspect of the game. This is the second Selke award for the 28-year-old Tampere, Finland, native.
Barkov, who played in 73 games this past season for the Panthers contributed 23 goals along with fifty seven assists for 80 points. The eleven year NHL veteran finished with 24 penalty minutes and had a +33 rating.
Barkov's point total was the best of his career to date and his +/- was the second best over that span as well.
The most recent Frank J. Selke Award winners include Patrice Bergeron in 2022 & 2023, Barkov in 2021. Philadelphia Flyers forward Sean Couturier in 2021 and Nashville Predators Ryan O'Reilly in 2019.
