700-game NHL veteran calls it a career announces sudden retirement
Matthieu Perreault has played in 700 NHL games, split between the Washington Capitals, Anaheim Ducks, Winnipeg Jets and the Montreal Canadiens.
After playing only 25 games in 2021-2022, the Center ended his career as a UFA, unsigned.
Perreault spent the majority of his career with the Winnipeg Jets, where his last season there was a decrease in production. His last 30-point season was in 2018-2019 and was moved to the Canadiens two years after.
Known for his versatility and energy on the ice, Perreault potted 143 goals and 209 assists over 708 regular-season games. He added 16 points in 51 playoff contests.
Perreault will be moving into a broadcasting role on TVA, after 13 seasons in the NHL.
