Another controversial ejection taints World Juniors bronze medal game
The World Juniors has been tainted by controversial calls throughout the entire tournament. The semifinals were tainted by multiple questionable goalie interference calls. Now the bronze medal game is facing more controversy after one of Sweden's best players was ejected in the 1st period.
Fabian Lysell, the Boston Bruins 2021 1st round pick found his game over less than 8 minutes into the game. Lysell was called for an illegal check to the head. The penalty resulted in a 5 minute major and a game misconduct. As Lysell attempted to deliver a hit from the side of Kenny Connors, It appears his shoulder makes head contact.
The initial calling the ice was a 5 minute major and upon review the call was upheld. The ejection marks an early end to what was already a disappointing tournament for the Bruins prospect.
Team USA took it 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
