Arizona Coyotes now willing to trade their most valuable asset and it's not Jakob Chychrun
Arizona Coyotes goalie Karel Vejmelka has been keeping the team in games at times even tho his record and numbers don't support that. He has a .902 save percentage, 3.38 goals-against-average, and 11-15-4 record this season.
Sportsnet's Jeff Marek reports that teams around the league have been checking on his availability and Arizona is open to moving him for the right offer.
MoneyPuck's goals saved above expected metric, which tracks how well a goalie has performed relative to how an average goalie would be expected to perform, ranks Vejmelka ninth in the entire NHL. He's just behind some of the NHL's best netminders such as Igor Shesterkin and Andrei Vasilevskiy in that metric, which speaks volumes to the level he's played at this year.
The offer will really need to knock the teams' socks off. Vejmelka is still young at 26 and is signed to a great contract. His cap hit is $2,725,000 AAV until the end of the 2024-2025 season.
Th team seems forever in a rebuild. Management could decide be to cash in on a hot goalie with a relatively thin NHL resume.
