The Colorado Avalanche lost Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final last night, by a score of 3-2. A hard fought game, yes, but a disappointing turn of events none the less for this Avs team, a team on the brink of winning their first Stanley Cup in 21 years should they be able to close out the series against the Tampa Bay Lightning on either Sunday in game 6 or Tuesday in game 7.

After the game last night Avs longtime captain Gabriel Landeskog was asked about the officiating during the game, he had this to say:

I'm not going to do that. That's something they can continue to do, but we're not doing that.

This comment of course alludes to when Lightning head coach Jon Cooper complained about the non-too-many-men call that preceded Nazem Kadri's overtime game winner in game 4. A play in which, both teams had too many men. The Avs had 6 and the Bolts had 7.

Again, nothing wrong with a little gamesmanship, but if you're going to complain like Cooper did, at least to do it in a way that doesn't make you out to be a hypocrite.

Game 6 is tomorrow in Tampa at 8 eastern. This is shaping up to be a nasty series on and off the ice.
