Beer league game gets extremely heated and turns into brawl resulting in a goalie fight
If you've been lucky enough to play beer league hockey, you're certainly aware of how out of hand a game can get from time to time. Especially when a Beer League Hero lets his new found fame go to their head. That is exactly what happened in this video.
Recently camera footage caught tempers boiling over inside a hockey rink where it appears a typical beer league game was occurring. The video shows one goalie going after an opponent after a stoppage in play and while everyone tries to get in on the action, the original goaltender skates to center ice to engage with his counterpart who was minding the other net.
The skirmish in the corner happens all the time, it's the fight between goaltenders that is rare and becomes the focal point of the incident. The goalie in the corner was likely either finished, became bored, or was called out by his counterpart at the other end of the ice to fight,
While line brawls are few and far between in professional hockey let alone beer league, depending on the circumstances it can either be exciting or unnecessary and while I am a strong believer that fighting is a necessary part of the game, I am genuinely not sure what a line brawl accomplishes. Fighting will never be taken out of hockey, so it should be embraced.
