Beer league player nearly crushed by falling arena equipment

I think it's fair to say that every beer league player has had a tough night during their career. Whether you're left huffing wind, nursing an injury or just outright embarrassed, I can assure you that your worst night is nowhere near as bad as this player's night.

This week on Twitter Jonny Lazarus shared the following video that was submitted to him via his Twitter account. In the video the team in white begins to back into his zone. As the three man unit crosses their own blue line a loud rumble can be heard and almost immediately the arena's HVAC system comes crashing to the ice, narrowly missing a defender.

Just had this video sent to me from last night at Chelsea Piers.

A pretty strong defensive strategy here from the team in white 😂

(In all seriousness, very happy nobody was hurt)

While this will likely end up being an expensive repair, the positive thing is that no one was injured in this incident, despite how close of a call it was. Of all the things that I've been concerned with during beer league, being crushed by an HVAC system was never very high on my list...until now.

The game was halted and everyone involved exited the ice safely.
