There are a lot of great players across the stories history of the Toronto Maple Leafs franchise and a lot of great defensemen, however one stands above the rest. Sweden's own Borje Salming.
Earlier this year, Salming was diagnosed with ALS and while he no longer has the ability to walk or talk without assisted devices, he's in Toronto ready to be honoured ahead of tonight's game with other Hockey Hall of Fame members and tomorrow as well by himself according to TSN's Chris Johnston:
Here's the reception Salming received as he was honoured, Daryl Sutter, helped him salute the Toronto faithful.
Salming played 1099 games with the leafs over 16 seasons recording 148 goals and 620 assists for 768 total points.
I think I can speak for the hockey world when I say it's amazing to see him in attendance tonight and we're all with him.
