While most of the league is preparing to play games over the next couple days, a significant portion of North America is preparing for Winter Storm Elliott. The Winter Storm is expected to bring significant snowfall, freezing rain and high winds to a large portion of Canada and the United States. Due to the expected storm it has left the NHL with a difficult decision.
According to Chris Johnston the NHL is considering postponing the Friday night game between the Buffalo Sabres and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Hearing #Sabres / #GoBolts game on Friday night is likely to be postponed with impending winter storm.
May not be the only game on the slate postponed - aside from safety issue for fans, #NHL doesn't want to teams being stranded for holidays.
In the interest of both public safety and player safety this is likely the right call. It will be interesting to see what approach the NHL takes to this approaching storm and how they address these issues.
