Yesterday it was reported that Shane Wright had been traded to the London Knights, but it now appears that deal fell through. But moments ago, NHL insider Darren Dreger broke the news that Shane Wright has been traded from the OHL Kingston Frontenacs to the Windsor Spitfires.
This was expected to happen if Wright was to return to the OHL; the Frontenacs will not be a contending team this year, and to further Wright's development and best represent junior hockey, it's in everyone's best interest that he go to a team to compete for the CHL Memorial Cup.
The return for the Kingston Frontenacs has not been made public at the time of writing, but it'll likely be similar to the trade that sent Owen Zellweger to the Everett Silvertips for an absurd amount of draft picks.
Wright is coming off an impressive showing at the World Juniors Tournament, winning a gold medal and notching 4 goals and 7 points in 7 games. Now, we can watch to see if he can also secure a Memorial Cup victory.
