Well, the wait is finally over, it was all but a forgone conclusion that Patrick Kane was leaving the Chicago Blackhawks this season, we just didn't know where or for whom.
After about a week of speculation linking Kane to the New York Rangers, the deal will finally happen tonight after 5 pm. With the deal happening after 5 pm, it will mean Kane's cap hit won't be on the books until tomorrow
Kane, 34, has played his entire career with the Blackhawks. This season in 54 games he has a total of 45 points on a team sitting near the bottom of the standings, including 16 goals and 29 assists.
With this move, at this point for the Rangers, you'd have to think it's Stanley Cup or bust for them. Paying a hefty price to get Kane means they need to win and they need to win now. I'd say, they have a pretty good shot, too.
