We are still very early in the 2023-24 NHL season, but that doesn't mean games are meaningless. Far from it, in fact. Especially when it comes to tonight's game between the Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins.
After finishing first in the entire league last year, the Bruins were unceremoniously booted from the playoffs in the first round by the Florida Panthers. To make matters worse, Florida would go on to the Stanley Cup Final, while Boston was left to try and figure out what went wrong after making history for having the most regular season wins ever in one year. With all that in mind, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery said tonight's game isn't just another on the schedule for his players.
"It's not one of 82. No. They ended our season. They went all the way to the Finals. Our summers were miserable until the Finals were over. And that's because they beat us. So yeah, this means more." - Jim Montgomery.
Boston is absolutely rolling so far again this season, taking a 7-0-1 record into tonight's game. Florida is 4-3-0. This one could get chippy if Montgomery's words resonate with his players.
