Early in the third period, Makar stepped into Blues forward Alexei Toropchenko to deliver a hit, but instead took awkward contact to the head, forcing him to leave the game.
To make matters worse, this head injury comes in Makar's first game back from a concussion suffered earlier this month. At this point, his presence in the lineup would be desired, but potentially adverse to his health.
Makar, coming off a Norris winning season, still hasn't taken a step back with his offensive production. Despite his season being riddled with injury, he's put up 13 goals and 45 points in 46 games. Hopefully, the Avalanche can have him back and fully healthy in time for the playoffs.
