Last season during the Colorado Avalanche's Stanley Cup run, Darcy Kuemper was injured when a errant stick stuck through the cat-eye hole in his mask and poked him directly in the eye. It unfortunately seemed like this incident repeated last night, but luckily Arvid Soderblom was able to avoid serious injury.

The incident occured during a game against the New Jersey Devils. As the Devils looked to add to their goal total, the stick of Tomas Tatar managed to slip through the eye hole of Soderblom's mask. His stick makes contact with Soderblom's face, and he immediately reacts.

Soderblom pulls off his helmet, drops it to the ice and the play is immediately blown dead. After being tended to be medical staff luckily Soderblom was deemed healthy enough to continue.

The Blackhawks seem to have dodged a bullet because they're currently without Alex Stalock and Petr Mrazek, who are both injured. The Devils went onto shutout the Hawks and Soderblom made 26 saves on 29 shots.
