The Columbus Blue Jackets picked up a much-needed home victory last night over the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2. The game did not come at without cost though. In the first period of last nights game, Blue Jackets star defenseman Zach Werenski attempted to check Flyers forward Travis Konecny. Werenski missed him and fell awkwardly in the Columbus zone. It appeared that he might have injured his shoulder on the play. He left the game and did not return. His head coach, Brad Larsen, did not have an optimistic view of Werenski's injury. He stated, «it's not good news on Z.» It's not good at all.»

This is terrible news for the Blue Jackets who are already in last place in the Metropolitan division. Werenski is the team's number one defenseman. He plays in all situations and leads the team in average ice time with over twenty-three minutes. Columbus already allowed fifty-seven goals allowed. One of the highest in the league. It looks like it could be a season for the Blue Jackets.

Today the Blue Jackets confirmed the worst with the following announcement:

Zach Werenski suffered a separated shoulder and torn labrum Thursday and is expected to miss the rest of the regular season.
