Columbus Blue Jackets provide first update on Sean Kuraly after scary scene Saturday night
In the first period of Saturday nights game, between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets, Sean Kuraly suffer r a scary looking injury. After receiving a hit from Jake McCabe, Kuraly was hit in the chest with the puck.
Kuraly was in obvious pain and attempted to get the referee to blow the play dead, but to no avail. Kuraly skated to the bench hunched over, where he was met by a trainer. Kuraly began to walk into the team's tunnel when teammates immediately began to scream for the game to be halted and for medical assistance to come to the bench.
A paramedic made his way across the ice as referees attempted to sort through what had happened.
The period was suspended and both teams were sent directly to the locker room. The Jackets eventually provided a mid-game update that everything was precautionary.
After the game ended the team finally issued the following statement on the health of their forward.
UPDATE: #CBJ Kuraly suffered an abdominal injury. While his injury does not appear to be serious at this time, he will be taken to Grant Medical Center for further evaluation.
Given how serious things seemed, this feels like a very positive update. Our thoughts remain with Kuraly at this time.
