Dallas Stars forward forced to complete military service next summer
Dallas Stars centre Roope Hintz has become one of the most underrated players in the NHL the last few seasons. His .99 points per game player over the past three seasons, is very impressive. He is often overlooked by the emergence of Jason Roberston and number one backstopper Jake Oettinger.
The 26 year old plays in all situations for Dallas. Last season in 73 games Hintz scored 37 goals and 75 points while providing 9 powerplay goals and 3 short handed goals. The Stars rewarded Hintz with a 8 year, $67,600,000 contract last November.
In Finland every male citizen needs to complete mandatory military service. For Hintz he was going to complete the military service this summer but plans changed.
"I haven't joined the army yet. It's still ahead,"
Hintz said in connection with the SM final event of street running at Narinkkatori in Kamppi.
"Next summer I will probably join the army."
"They all know that here everyone has to go through the army,"
Hintz says.
Hintz centered one of the best lines in hockey last season with Robertson and Joe Pavelski. Hintz will look to replicate this form next season before his off-season training gets interrupted by the military service next summer.
