Defending Stanley Cup Champions set to break record that's not good
For a team to repeat as Stanley Cup champions everything must fall into place and a little luck must be on the side of the previous victors. This season, luck has been the last thing on the side of the Colorado Avalanche.
The Avs who lost the likes of Nazem Kadri and Darcy Kuemper to free agency this past summer has been bitten by the injury bug more than anyone in National Hockey League history to this point in the season.
The current record for a team man games lost in a season was set by the 2016 Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins with two hundred eighty nine, the Avalanche are on pace to almost double it.
Those who are unfamiliar with the stat, man games is a stat used to calculate how many total games players have missed. One player missing one game equals one man game lost. This season the Avalanche have lost man games from Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, Cake Makar and many others. This just shows the price teams pay to win a Cup.
