Detroit Red Wings Sign New Goaltender After Losing Two in the Last Two Games
Sometimes you have to take your shot anywhere you can get it. A veteran goaltender has a new NHL contract after the Detroit Red Wings lost two goaltenders in the last two games.
Michael Hutchinson, 33, now has a one-year, two-way deal with the Red Wings after spending all of this season with the Grand Rapids Griffins on an AHL-only deal.
Unless he plays his way into the number one position, Hutchinson will likely serve as backup to James Reimer, the only NHL goaltender the Red Wings had left before this signing.
Detroit lost Alex Lyon to an injury in a game on Saturday, He is not expected back until after Christmas. Last night, netminder Ville Husso had to leave the Red Wings game against the Anaheim Ducks after getting hurt. He is currently listed as week-to-week.
