Dylan Larkin came off 2021-2022, in a great spot, with 31 goals and 38 assists for 61 points in 71 games. Larkin also ended up in Las Vegas as Detroit's only representative in the 2022 All-Star Game.

Dylan Larkin to represent Red Wings for hockey's All Star Weekend. LAS VEGAS, NV (WKZO AM/FM) – Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin will be Detroit's lone representative in the 2022 NHL All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas. Larkin will participate in the NHL fastest skater competition during tonight's skills event.- Feb 4, 2022

Dylan Larkin had been represented by Joe Oliver for the last 11-years at KO Sports, and Larkin has said he was confident in the negotiations of his contract extension this summer.

«I'm pretty confident,» Larkin said. «I haven't been in this position with Steve. I'm excited to see what he has to say. I'd really like something to get done. I think my agent, I've just been talking with him. I don't know if there's been a conversation yet. Just kind of waiting to hear something.»

So the question is what changed?

Brisson and CAA have a lot of star clients, ranging from Zach Werenski to Claude Giroux and Anze Kopitar. Would it be too speculative to say that Werenski was an influence? I wouldn't put it past him.

Of the 126 top professional hockey agents, one, Pat Brisson, represented 10 of last year's 31 first-round draft picks - over 40 times his «fair» share.

The world's No. 1 hockey agent and a co-head of CAA's hockey division, Pat Brisson negotiated Sidney Crosby's 12-year, $104 million deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Jonathan Toews' eight-year, $84 million deal with the Chicago Blackhawks.

I expect this was more than just regular negotiation tactics, I expect Larkin and Brisson to make Yzerman deliver a deal that is suitable for his Captain's contribution to a rebuilding squad, high AAV, and with term.
