Saturday night the Carolina Hurricanes lost game 6 to the New York Rangers to force a game 7. The Hurricanes went down 3-0 early in the second period and head coach Rod Brind'Amour decided to pull Antti Raanta to try and spark his team. It seemed liked it had worked as the Hurricanes scored less than two minutes later. But then quickly gave up another goal just over a minute later.
During a break in play, ESPN's Emily Kaplan asked coach Brind'Amour what the thought process was on pulling Antti Raanta and why he pulled him when he did.
We've had a lot of chances, but like I said its about what you give up
Being an NHL goalie is a tough job. When you're pulled in a playoff game sometimes its demoralizing. But at least Brind'Amour let Raanta and ESPN know he didnt think it was Raanta's fault they were losing. We'll have to wait and see if Raanta and the Hurricanes can pull it together for game 7 on Monday.
