Edmonton Oilers honour super fan who died of cancer
Last season, hockey fans were inspired by and enamored with Ben Stelter. The 5-year-old with a rare form of brain cancer was an Edmonton Oilers super fan who always had a smile on his face. Ben and his family tried to go to as many Oilers games as they could while Ben was healthy enough. They even went down to Los Angeles to cheer on the Oilers in their playoff series against the Los Angelese Kings. But unforunately this past August Ben lost his battle with cancer.
The Edmonton Oilers opened their season Wednesday night against the Vancouver Canucks. Before puck drop the Oilers played a tribute to Ben.
It was a classy move by the Oilers organization to give Ben and his family that moment. Cancer is an awful thing and it just reminds us to cherish the ones we love while we have them.
