With a pre-mature exit from the playoffs, the Edmonton Oilers are looking to fix things for another run next year. It's now or never for the Oilers and they are a couple pieces shy.
According to NHL insiders Nick Kypreos and Elliotte Friedman, the Oilers have yet to talk to Head Coach, Jay Woodcroft about a contract extension. Friedman has come out saying that the Oilers are expected to meet with Woodcroft this week and discuss their plan and vision for the team.
Woodcroft took over the team partway through the season from Dave Tippett. The Oilers went 26-9-3 under Woodcroft in 38 games. With so many coaching vacancies not locking up Woodcroft before his deal expires could be a big mistake for the Oilers. Especially after Connor McDavid's agent shared a vote of confidence for Woodcroft before the playoffs began.
