Edmonton Oilers sign starting goalie to a long-term contract after failed Jack Campbell signing
When the Edmonton Oilers signed Jack Campbell to a long-term contract they felt they'd solved all of their goaltending issues. Unfortunately for the Oilers Campbell has been awful since his arrival, and has since lost the starting goalie job to Stuart Skinner. Luckily for the Oilers Skinner has stepped up in a major way to steal the net.
The only issue for the Oilers is Stuart Skinner was in the final year of his current contract. This left Ken Holland very few options. To avoid paying Skinner a massive raise this summer, the Oilers and Skinner have come to an agreement on a 3 year extension.
The extension pays Skinner $2,600,000 per season for the next 3 years. The 24-year-old Skinner has posted a 2.83 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.
Upon the completion of this contract Skinner will be an unrestricted free agent.
