This season, the Florida Panthers are one of the best teams in the National Hockey League, and they're a certified Stanely Cup contender. It seems as though they are tinkering with their roster a little today as a former top-5 draft selection hits the waiver wire.
Olli Juolevi was the 5th overall pick in the 2016 NHL draft by the Vancouver Canucks. Unfortunately for the 23-year-old defender, he's never really been able to catch on with an NHL team and earn significant playing time during a career that has been heavily marred by injury.
After spending the first 3 years of his NHL career with the Canucks, playing 23 NHL games, he was traded right before the beginning of this season to the Florida Panthers in exchange for
Noah Juulsen and prospect Juho Lammikko.
Juolevi has appeared in 10 games for the Panthers this season, registering no points. In 33 career NHL games, Juolevi has just 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points.
I'd imagine that there are multiple teams out there who would be willing to take a flyer on the once highly touted offensive defenseman. I highly doubt that he'll clear.
