Former NHL and WHA player passes away at 65-years-old
Scott Campbell was easily one of the toughest players to ever play professional hockey. Campbell was a promising young prospect when he was drafted in 1977. At the time Campbell was selected 1st overall by the WHA's Houston Aeros and 8th overall by the NHL's St. Louis Blues.
In Campbell's first 3 professional seasons he logged 500 minutes of penalties, while adding 75 points. After 2 years playing in the WHA with the Aeros and Jets, the Jets joined the NHL where Campbell would play 2 more seasons.
Despite being 6'3 and over 200 lbs. Campbell was known as an amazing person off the ice.
Scott was known to still frequent Jets games and the family has already seen an outpouring of love and respect.
Rest in Peace Scott.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family and friends.
