Calling a game between the benches isn't for the faint of heart. You may not be on the ice, but, the chances for injury can be fairy high.
Yesterday, while providing analysis for the game between the Colorado Avalanche and Ottawa Senators, former NHLer Jamal Mayers took a puck to the top of the head, take a look:
Mayers, known as a rough and tumble kind of player during his playing days showed that off here as he received 6 stitches and was right back out there calling the game.
Much like players, albeit in a different way analysts between the benches put their bodies on the line every time they step into the small box. It's something we're slowly seeing more and more of.
Mayers thought he was quick enough to get out of the way, but he wasn't fast enough.
