During a game over the weekend former NHLer John Quenneville was involved in an incident which saw him shove an official. While the shove was minor the SHL has a zero tolerance policy for violence towards officials. Quenneville was issued an immediate one game suspension for his actions.

Quenneville was extremely upset about the suspension because he was set to play a game against his younger brother. After the suspension Quenneville shared the following thoughts with Afton Bladet:

What happened there is a f---ing joke. It's as if the disciplinary committee is trying to convince people that what happened there was a fight or an assault.

They (The Discipline Committee) are a disgrace to the entire league, unfortunately. They're hypocrites.

They are a group of people who sit so far away from the sport and the ice. They have decided that they want to fundamentally change the sport and that is very worrying.

This play likely wasn't suspension worthy, but if a league has a zero tolerance policy they definitely must enforce that.
