Former New York Islanders retires and joins Maple Leafs scouting staff
Matt Moulson is set to retire from the game of hockey at the age of 38. Most notably known for his time with the New York Islander franchise, Moulson also suited up for the Los Angeles Kings and Buffalo Sabres during a career that spanned 650 games at the NHL level. He also spent most of the last 4 years in the AHL with the Ontario Reign and Hershey Bears
According to Tony Androckitis of Inside AHL Hockey, to start his post-playing career Moulson will join the Toronto Maple Leafs as a scout.
Moulson is one of those guys who appears to have an undying love of the game and who always wants to be around it, plus, it isn't unlike Maple Leafs General Manager Kyle Dubas to give hometown former players roles within the organization. If Moulson is anything like he was as a player as a scout, the Leafs have a very good hockey mind who is dedicated to his craft.
Throughout his career, Moulson scored 176 goals and 193 assists for a total of 369 points over his 11-year NHL career.
