This off-season has been a weird one for free agents around the National Hockey League. We're a week into September and there are still some notable names on the free agent market.
One depth option comes to mind, Evan Rodrigues. According to Elliotte Friedman on the 32 thoughts podcast, there's been a lot of interest in Rodrigues, but it ultimately best value and biggest role.
Rodrigues, 29, had a breakout season for the Pittsburgh Penguins last season setting new career highs in goals, assists and points, including 19 goals and 24 assists for 43 points in all 82 games played.
Rodrigues doesn't have a long track record, but if last season is any indication, he deserves a middle 6 deal.
It will be interesting to see where he lands and how he does this coming season. The Anaheim Ducks are rumoured to be a potential landing spot.
