Former player calls head coach Bruce Cassidy 'envious and dishonest'
Bruce Cassidy's coaching tenure has been spread across three teams in the NHL in 8 seasons. He concluded the 2019-2020 season winning the Jack Adams with the Boston Bruins, in 7 of his 8 seasons in the league he took the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins to the playoffs.
However, he hasn't won a cup and there may be more to the reason why elaborated by a former player. Andrei Nikolishin played for Cassidy when he was a member of the Washington Capitals and he recently sat down with Sports Express to share his thoughts on the former coach.
"I crossed paths with him, so I can tell you what kind of person he is. I think he is a rather envious and dishonest coach.
The team is really tired of his approach. He reminds me somewhat of Ron Wilson, who was a classy coach. That's the most tactically savvy coach I've ever seen. But as a human being, he was a weirdo."
Nikolishin who spent time with Bruce Cassidy during his tenure with the Washington Capitals explains, how Bruce Cassidy despite the fact he was a smart and classy guy, was envious, dishonest, and a weirdo.
It sounds like according to Nikolishin that Cassidy eventually wore out his welcome in Washington. Reading into the history of his 2 seasons there, much like his recent firing in Boston, he lost the respect of the room in both locker rooms. His hot start in Vegas may be cooling-off as he's already calling out Jack Eichel for his lack of play, and will this play out the same way things did in both Washington and Boston?
Cassidy may have a winning record and he certainly turned Boston into a winning team, but is he the real solution to Vegas' problems? Maybe not.
