The end result was Calgary missing the playoffs, and general manger Brad Treliving and Sutter departing the organization. Huberdeau made history last season, the kind you don't want to be apart of. The 30 year old has the NHL record for the largest point drop-off in league history, seeing a dramatic decrease of 60 points between '21-22 and '22-23. In 79 games last season Huberdeau scored 15 goals and 55 points, a unpredictable drop off from the previous 115 point campaign.
Huberdeau was interviewed by Flames TV and appeared rejuvenated.
With a more offensive minded coach in Ryan Huska behind the bench, Huberdeau can hopefully get back to his old self. Hockey players need their confidence high and after last year, Huberdeau's seemed to be at an all-time low.
