Gary Bettman is unpopular for multiple reasons and the Arizona Coyotes are one of them. It was recently revealed that over the past 15 years, in total, the Coyotes have lost $200 Million as an organization. Bettman has favored, Vegas and Arizona without doubt and while hockey in the desert is fun, it has come with costs at the expense of 31 other teams.
The new rink only holds 5,000 fans at max and it has been an obvious result of brinksmanship between the franchise and local officials in Glendale, as negotiations for a new arena has taken time to get approved in Tempe, Arizona which won't even open until 2025!
The team has lacked franchise players, since Jeremy Roenick, Keith Tkachuk, and Shane Doan. So the lack of engagement by fans is understandable, as you have no one to build around.
With the draft, they made a huge move to pick up Logan Cooley, who would ideally be a great linemate with Clayton Keller.
Bill Armstrong may right the path of the organization, but the stain of Mitchell Miller is recent. To be able to make their rebuild quick also, they've taken on the mantle of becoming the dumping ground for bad contracts in the NHL.
