Insider reveals the real reason the Tony DeAngelo trade fell through

There were rumours former Philadelphia Flyers defender Tony DeAngelo was going to be traded back to the Carolina Hurricanes before he was ultimately bought out by the team yesterday.

Now, according to The Fourth Period's Anthony Di Marco, the reason the trade fell through is because Carolina's ownership decided they didn't want DeAngelo as part of their team; take a look.

I'm sure there were several factors that went into the Tony DeAngelo trade falling through, but it sounds like #Hurricanes' ownership played some kind of role in it.

Di Marco did mention there were several other factors that lead to the buyout instead of the trade, but says ownership played a role in the deal falling through.

I can't say I blame them if this is in fact how things played out, while DeAngelo is a good hockey player, there has been a lot of issues with him away from the rink and in the locker room, dating back to his time with the New York Rangers.

DeAngelo, 27, had a decent season with the Flyers last year, appearing in 70 games with the team, scoring 11 goals and adding 31 assists for a total of 42 points.

The buyout might be the best case scenario for teams who can likely get him for cheap next season if they want to add some offence on the back end.
