After a disappointing start to the season, the New York Islanders were never able to bounce back and contend for a playoff spot. Unfortunately for Barry Trotz that inability cost him his job as today the Islanders made the following announcement:
It's difficult to blame Trotz for the failures of his team. General Manager, Lou Lamoriello gave Trotz one of the oldest teams in the league. The team and style Trotz likes to play was almost impossible to do given the personnel he was given.
