Jacob Trouba under the microscope again after he throws another questionable elbow
Jacob Trouba continues to be a physical force when he is out on the ice. Opposing players need to keep their heads up when Trouba is out there. Players would be wise to be careful about cutting through the middle of the ice as well. During last night's loss to the Canadiens, Trouba might have gotten away with an elbowing penalty against Joel Armia. As Armia cut towards center ice, Trouba's elbow catches Armia in the ribs/hip. No penalty was assessed and Armia, appeared to hurt himself on the play. Check out the replay below of the hit.
In this instance, Trouba should have received a penalty on the play. Although his elbow did not come into contact with Armia's head or neck, he still used it to injure Armia's ribs and I thought at least a minor penalty should have been called on the play. Trouba has already established himself as a player that likes to be physical and that is fine. This play seemed to go too far though.
Even before this incident, a lot of fans already take exception to Trouba's play claiming he is a dirty player and that he is trying to injure other players. This elbowing play further shows Trouba might want to tone it down a notch or two. Attempting to injure player is not what this great game is about.
