James Neal forced to take a professional try out to continue his NHL career
James Neal was once a 40 goal scorer who was highly coveted across the NHL. Now he's an aging veteran who is forced to resort to a professional try out to try and keep his NHL dream alive. In his NHL career Neal has played 869 career games for 7 different teams.
Last year Neal played with the St. Louis Blues, but unfortunately due to his performance he was forced to play a large chunk of the season in the AHL. In 19 NHL games Neal only put up 2 goals and 2 assists. During his AHL time he had 14 goals and 26 points in 28 games.
Now to try and get his career back on track Neal has signed a professional try out to attend Columbus Blue Jackets training camp.
Neal is still being paid $1,916,667 per year for the next three seasons by the Edmonton Oilers after being bought out by the team.
