Jaromir Jagr offers up an incredible compliment to one of the NHL's top prospects
Jaromir Jagr is without a doubt one of the greatest hockey players to play the game. Jagr has such a passion for the game, that he still plays professionally today. At this point in his life Jagr is also the owner of a team in the Czech Republic and he's always looking for new talent.
Before last year's NHL Draft a certain player ended up catching Jagr's eye. After watching him play he had immediate interest in trying to sign the player to play for his team, but it didn't take long for him to realize that wouldn't come to fruition. So who was that player? Juraj Slafkovsky.
Jagr offered the following comment about Slafkovsky:
I turned on the TV and Slafkovsky had a puck by the boards. He was very strong. He was player a similar style like me. I told myself, I wanted him on my team (in Czech top league). When I found out he was just 17 I realized I had no chance to get him.
When a player of Jagr's ilk sees that sort of potential in you, it's usually a very good sign for their NHL career. The Canadiens ultimately chose Slafkovsky 1st overall, which officially ended Jagr's dream of him playing in the Czech League. But if Jagr is willing to bet on the player, than it makes sense as to why the Habs were able to bet big as well.
