It's early yet, but we have a candidate of Fight of the Year coming from the AHL. Jeffrey Viel of the Manitoba Moose and Alex Gallant of the Calgary Wranglers decided to drop the gloves and took no prisoners, with punch after punch from both in rapid succession until they are gassed.
How both were still standing after this one is incredible. Just bomb after bomb until the officials get between them, and then the mutual show of respect. Great old-time hockey!
Viel has played in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks, but has spent most of his career in the minors. Gallant has never reached the NHL, but is in his ninth year in the AHL.
