It's no secret the Vancouver Canucks have started on the wrong side of the season, with a terrible record. With the lack of accountability from their highest-paid star, J.T. Miller doesn't lend well to the coaching situation.

With Jim Rutherford, President of the Vancouver Canucks appearing on Sportsnet 650 last night, it didn't help Bruce Boudreau's cause:

This is a direct shot across Boudrea's bow, as the team is currently struggling in 6th place in the Pacific, with a 3-6-3 record.

Since the start of the season, Thatcher Demko who the Canucks were high on as a starting goalie, has accumulated 1 win and 6 losses with a .879 sv% which is a poor showing, compared to the Travis Green era.

This lends credibility to Rutherford's statement that the Canucks system is leaky in defense. How soon till Boudreau's time is up in Vancouver?

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that Bruce Boudreau will return as head coach for the 2022.23 season. Boudreau's option year for next season pays him $2.5 million in salary. «We are pleased to see Bruce's commitment to return to the Canucks next season,» said Allvin.May 13, 2022

Given that this year was the option for his contract, I imagine his leash is shortened before he gets fired, unless the tide turns in Boudreau's favor. It's no secret Boudreau wasn't Rutherford's choice and it's a possibility he'd like his own man behind the bench.
