The physical side of hockey is something that appears to have been lost over recent years. With very teams playing physical games, it becomes rare to see two teams with a legitimate hatred for one another. But Friday night in Chicago, a game between two teams who have zero history with each other, turned into one of the most physical games of the year.
After 4th liner Sean Kuraly laid out Jonathan Toews, it looks like Chicago took offense, as Alex Stalock held Erik Gudbranson's stick after the hit in what seems to be a rivalry brewing between the clubs. Rookie Boris Katchouk also looked to get payback for the Toews hit, as he was penalized for boarding Blue Jackets defenseman, Marcus Bjork.
What laid the groundwork for all of these events is Max Domi's comments about Columbus, which might have set off alarms in his former teammates' heads and led to this contentious play on ice all night.
