League reveals referees injuries after being slashed and kicked by player, announces players punishment
Yesterday a video surfaced online of an upset player angrily slashing a referee in the head with his stick. As the referee fell to the ground the player approached and kicked him with his skate. This disgusting attack was in response to the referee issuing Nikolay Rizin a 10-minute penalty.
It was clear from the video that the referee was hurt, but now the league has released an update on the official. According to reports on the play the referee suffered the following injury:
According to the league, the referee has broken ribs, jaw, facial bone. Geesh.
The league also announced that Rizin has been banned from the league for life and he is also facing criminal charges for this assault.
The Hockey League Labor Reserves does not accept and will never accept such behavior on the part of teams and individual players; KFOR will take the most stringent measures on this fact. Also, the league is ready to provide full legal support to provide legal assis tance to the injured arbitrator.
After the incident police were called to the arena to investigate and have opened a case against Rizin. His team was also forced to forfeit the game 5-0, but ultimately that is the least of his worries at this time.
