Al Sobotka, started working for the Detroit Red Wings when he was still in high school. When he was just 17-years-old he joined the organization and worked his way up to become the head of day-to-day operations for the ice arena. After being with the Red Wings since 1971, in February of this year, Sobotka was let go after an incident involving Human Resources.

It is alleged that Sobotka could not wait to get to a bathroom and decided to urinate into a water drain instead. Another employee saw this and Sobotka had a meeting with his Supervisor and Human Resources soon after. Sobotka was suspended for a week. Later, after 51-years with the organization, the longtime Zamboni driver was fired.
It's an unceremonious ending for the Detroit cult hero. Sobotka is now suing the Red Wings claiming discrimination due to age and disability. When you gotta go, you gotta go.
