When the Los Angeles Kings acquired Pierre-Luc Dubois It was seen as a major move for the franchise. This was the move that was supposed to put the Kings over the top and make them Stanley Cup contenders. Unfortunately the results just haven't been there and recently the King's have been surrounded by off ice drama.

Today head coach Todd McClellan was officially relieved of his coaching duties. After the disappointing start to the season. The LA Kings release the following statement on his termination.

The LA Kings have relieved Todd McLellan of his duties and named Jim Hiller interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.

He has done a tremendous job in moving us forward and making a positive impact on our group and in our community. This was not an easy decision, but we felt the change was necessary at this time.

Jim is a well-respected member of our staff who is familiar with our players. We are confident in his ability to lead our team effectively during this pivotal time.
