The Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens rivalry has just gotten a little bit more interesting.

According to Jacob Stoller of The Hockey News, the Toronto Marlies, affiliate of the Maple Leafs, have signed college free agent Brock Caufield to a two-way contract for the 2023-24 season.

"Hearing the Toronto #Marlies have signed Brock Caufield to an AHL two-way contract." Stoller said.

Brock Caufield, the older brother of Canadiens sniper Cole Caufield, has spent the last five seasons in the NCAA with the University of Wisconsin. In 172 NCAA games, the 24-year-old had 74 points (33 goals, 41 assists), 22 penalty minutes and was a minus-22.

While they won't face each other in the regular season, it'll be interesting to see if Brock will play against Cole in the pre-season. Montreal and Toronto have three pre-season games against each other this Fall - September 29th, September 30th and October 2nd.
