John Tavares has opened up about where he sees himself playing when his current contract expires after next season.
When John Tavares Joined the Toronto Maple Leafs organization on the first day of free agency back in 2018. This at the time was a huge shock and probably the most significant National Hockey League signing in recent memory. With Tavares a year away from free agency again, will he sign with the Leafs?
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, Tavares has no intention of going anywhere and would like to finish his career as a Maple Leaf; take a look.
It's evident that being 35 when the contract ends, Tavares will have to take a significant pay cut in order to stay with the team, even though production wise, he hasn't taken a step back at all.
This season, Tavares, 33, has skated in 38 games for the Leafs. He's collected 12 goals and added 22 assists for a total of 34 points.
We've seen this movie before when Tavares left the New York Islanders, the question is, will he actually stay with the Leafs when his contract is up this time? Only time will tell
